A little more experimental...

So I'm trying to branch out and adapt more free-spirited typography. I feel like I personally prefer a little more square, both literally and figuratively, but this is growing on me. Here's my first try... (I thought that with this layout that maybe an accordion book, like you were doing Craig, might work for me? It'd at least help me put off learning how to bind a book. It might also make it a little more flowing.)

P.S.- I know this is tiny but you can click for more detail.

This is a lot of fun. I like how your eye is led along the page due to your type choices. It'll be interesting to see what everyone else thinks but I think this has a lot of play, it's much freer than last time - I think it's more what Gen's looking for, definitely.

that was me who deleted my post - I wanted to change my display name.

Hi Pamela, thanks for the kind feedback. :-) This is definitely straying from my comfort zone and I'm a little unsure where to take it from here.

okay folks,

don't go for what you think i'm looking for since you don't know what i'm looking for.

in fact, i don't know what i'm looking for.

i want the unexpected.

something that excites you.

so, do what you think works for you.

and, feel pushed out of your comfort zone because that's where you'll learn the most.

challenge yourself to do something a little different each time.

you can always come back to what you know.

dare to fail.

there are worse things.

while i'm not sure this piece is working in it's entirety (odd white spaces, a few dubious font choices, etc) it's a good experiment.

keep it up.

This almost feels like a cover for the pages that you showed in class as it incorporates many of the same elements, but combined into one composition. I liked the first one so much, I'm not so sure I like this direction. Perhaps I'm being swayed by the use of color in the first version. I'll be anxious to see where you end up.

I tried to go as "ugly"/"free" as possible with this one just to see if there were some elements I could appreciate, since it's not really my style/comfortable range. Hopefully it comes across a little crazy, or else I have to delve a lot deeper! :-) Take a look at my newer post, is that a good synthesis of some of these elements and my more straight forward first attempt?
